30 DAYS OF NIGHT TAKES BOX OFFICE BITE
30 Days of Night is number one at the weekend box office. The stars remember their time in New Zealand. |
30 Days of Night, the Josh Hartnett starring film based on the graphic novel about creatures of the night who attack a tiny Alaskan town in total darkness took a bite out of the weekend box office with $16 million. |
For most actors it’s all about location, location, location and for this one New Zealand held magical memories for Melissa George who plays Josh’s estranged wife and partner vampire slayer. |
“We were staying in Wanuka which is this gorgeous area in Queenstown and we just went out every night and everyone went skiing and hilly skiing and it was just a fantastic sort of, oh and the wine in New Zealand is number one and we used to always drive to the vineyards on our days off. We were spoiled; it was such a glorious location.” |
When he wasn’t sleeping during the day Josh says he took advantage of the great outdoors. |
“There’s a lot of stuff going on in New Zealand. We were in the south island for awhile up in the mountains so I took a couple of trips around, went snow boarding. It’s a good place to hang out. You can surf on the north end and snow board in the south end. So there was a lot going on, a lot of outdoorsy stuff.” |
Josh was so taken with New Zealand he tried to buy a plot of land but was outbid. The other weekend movies which topped the box office were Why Did I Get Married moving to second place with $12 million and The Rock’s The Game Plan moves from second to third with $8 million. |
