JOHNNY ROTTEN MOUTHS OFF ABOUT BODOGS BATTLE OF THE BANDS
After an incredible 7,000 bands entered Bo Dog’s Battle of the Bands and after 350 ‘Battles,’ the top three finalists are all competing for a $1 million dollar record contract, which culminates in a Live broadcast of Fuse TV from The House of Blues in Hollywood on September 5th. Bo Dog’s Battle of the Bands featured an expert panel of judges, ranging from Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols, Billy Duffy of The Cult and Punk Goddess Bif Naked as each week bands competed for immunity from elimination. |
We caught up with Johnny Rotten, most notably of The Sex Pistols and Public Image Limited, to discuss how much he’s enjoyed being a judge on Bo Dog’s Battle of the bands. |
“Originally I thought, ‘What a hideous idea,’ and then the pieces filled in rather wonderfully. It’s bands performing live their own songs. And that to me is irresistable. That’s the dynamic, two duos of music, live and home grown and written. Wonderful, excellent, and I’ve not looked back regrettably on any of it. I’ve really enjoyed it.” |
We also talked with Johnny Rotten, who is well known for taking risks in his life and his career to share his thoughts on each band taking a big risk by coming on in front of a National televised audience each week. |
“The bands are…. Well they’re very varied, but they’re not as dull as I thought they possibly could have been. They’re not exactly the most wonderful talent in the world, but they’re young and they’re starting. We all have to start somewhere. What they’ve done, and it’s very risky to themselves, is to put themselves into a competition and allowed themselves to be judged and face millions and millions of people on them on TV. That’s risky, so I applaud them on that. That’s bravery, well done.” |
Fans will decide the final winner of the $1 million dollar record deal by text messaging the final show on September 5th from the voting window of 7pm west coast until 7:50pm west coast time. |
