QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE DIG SPICE AND DIVERSITY OF VEGOOSE
Queens of the Stone Age talk about the musical diversity and spice of Vegoose, which is quickly becoming becoming a Las Vegas tradition |
Having been a part of many festivals throughout the world, Queens of the Stone Age, for the first time, got to experience the electricity and excitement of America’s only music Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada, Vegoose. Vegoose, which was created 3 years ago by the creators of Bonnaroo, AC Entertainment and Superfly Productions continues to fine tune Vegoose, which not only boasts 3 stages and close to twelve hours of music each day, but also showcases late night shows at multiple venues around Sin City giving fans a multitude of musical options for the weekend. For many years, fans had to travel to Europe to find top notch music festivals, but with Bonnaroo leading the way and Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, Coachella, Voodoo Music Festival, Jazz Fest, 10,000 Lakes, Langerado and Vegoose doing their part, it seems America is really getting a strong grasp on the Festival industry and fans are continuing to build a tradition at each Festival stop along the way. |
We caught up with Troy Van Leeuwen, lead guitarist of Queens of the Stoneage, to talk about his thoughts on being a part of Vegoose for the first time and the festivals goals of bringing an extremely diverse musical lineup with many options to choose from for their fans. |
“I think it’s only natural to have one here. You know, actually festivals are becoming more and more of an American thing. It’s usually a European thing so I think it’s cool and there needs to be more. You get to see more diverse bands and you’re not just watching Ozzfest with a bunch of Metal heads or The Warped Tour with all Punk Rock. So, you need to have some spice in your life, not just salt and pepper.” |
Some of the spice and flavor that made it out to the third annual Vegoose was Rage Against the Machine, Daft Punk, Muse, Iggy Pop and The Stooges, Ghostland Observatory, Cypress Hill, and Lupe Fiasco. A few of the late night options for fans to choose from around Sin City were performances by Moe., Umphreys McGee, Thievery Corporation, and the always favorite Vegoose Silent Disco. |
