COBRA STARSHIP SLEEPING WITH THE ACADEMY IS…

Cobra Starship was a last-minute add for the Sleeping With Giants tour and they talk about their gratitude and the drawbacks to being on first.

Cobra Starship may be the last-minute addition to the Sleeping With Giants tour with headliners The Academy Is…, but evidenced by the turn-out for the recent show on Long Island fans didn’t mind. The fact that it was election day didn’t hurt the early turn-out of mostly teenage girls, who were treated to a special performance. The Academy Is…vocalist William Beckett is featured in the song and video for Cobra’s Snakes On A Plane, and he was at the venue early to jump onstage with vocalist Gabe Saporta and crew – much to the delight of the fans.

Saporta talked about how they got the tour and their gratitude to The Academy Is…

“We had been slated to take the fall off to record, and we wound up finishing the record this summer. We got stuck without a tour. So, The Academy Is… was just like, ‘Just jump on our tour. When the record comes out jump on our tour.’ We’re like, ‘OK.’ So the 23rd, our record is coming out, we jump on The Academy Is.. tour. It’s great, but we’re also getting f–ked a little bit because we’re playing first, we’re only playing for twenty-five minutes, and some of the shows we play before the advertised door time. But our main thing is that we just want to be on the road when the record comes out so that kids get a chance to hear it. We want to make sure that in these two months that everyone who is already a Cobra fan is picking up the new record. We want to make sure that everyone who knows about Cobra knows we have a new album coming out.”

The Sleeping With Giants tour also features Sherwood, Armor For Sleep and The Rocket Summer, and it wraps up November 24 in Chicago.
