KEVIN SPACEY CORRUPTS CHRISTMAS

Kevin Spacey tries to take down Christmas in Fred Claus.

Kevin Spacey is the deliciously evil Clyde operating under the guise of an efficiency expert in Fred Claus who’s one mission in life is to ruin Christmas which also includes putting the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny out of business.

Kevin talks about what attracted him to Clyde.

“What I liked about this in that although he starts off with a certain attitude and kind of a devilish glee at being able to shut down the entire Santa operation, it’s where he goes and where he ends up and it’s the journey of the character which I rather like. I always like it when the character doesn’t end up in the same place where they start out in even in what we would simply call a Christmas comedy.”

One of Clyde’s jobs is to endlessly abuse Santa played by Paul Giamatti and put an end to his workshop which Kevin says he delighted in as the two actors have worked together before on stage.

“No because he’s a drunk so he was drinking a lot during the shoot. He sort of kept bottles. The fat suit wasn’t as fat as it looked. A lot of it was just alcohol. No Paul is an extraordinary talent; I so adored working with him on Iceman Cometh on Broadway about nine years ago and I have no qualms at all with abusing him as much as possible.”

Kevin Spacey continues to be the artistic director for the Old Vic Theater in London putting up Cinderella with pantomime for the holiday season and will play the role of the Hollywood producer in Speed The Plow at the beginning of 2008. Kevin’s Trigger Street films will also release 21 in 2008 reuniting him with Superman star Kate Bosworth.
