THOMAS JANE FRIGHTENED BY EVERY DAY LIFE, NOT THE MIST
Thomas Jane, star of The Mist says he doesn’t have to look any further than the local news to find horror. |
Thomas Jane stars in The Mist as a movie poster artist and family man who becomes an unlikely hero when he and fellow townspeople are trapped in a local supermarket escaping the evil forces in the fog outside. |
Thomas, a family man himself married to Patricia Arquette with whom he has a daughter, says you don’t have to look any further than the local news to be terrified. |
“People go out searching for the worst stories they can find and they find them and put them on television. As a nation we grow up with the most horrible stories that you could ever imagine. And they’re right there in your living room every day and we’ve become addicted to it. I think in a way it desensitizes us to what’s really going on, our real fears, our family, our sense of well being. Things that hit you in the heart, you know.” |
Thomas jumped at the chance to star in The Mist because he saw it as an opportunity to work with great actors and get back to the original horror thriller genre. |
“I think The Mist hits you on a level that is a lot deeper than what’s been coming out over the past couple of years. You know your torture porn fare. I don’t know how the hell we got to where we did in the genre but it’s nice to get back to what horror’s all about and that’s scaring you in places that you’d really rather not be scared in. Hence the purpose of the horror film.” |
Jane likes scary movies so much he’s currently shooting his directorial feature Dark Country, a 3-D, noir thriller with horror stars Lauren German from Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Hellboy’s Ron Perlman. |
