ELLEN PAGE PLAYS PREGNANT TEEN IN JUNO

Ellen Page plays an outspoken pregnant teenager in Juno.

Canadian actress Ellen Page is quickly becoming known for her fierce performances playing strong characters who have become unlikely role models.

In Hard Candy she empowered young girls by capturing a pedophile, and in Juno she plays a pregnant teen owning up to and accepting her responsibilities. Ellen says she makes no apologies for her behavior.

“She kind of is just truly herself and in high school that’s a pretty substantial, it can be a frightening thing but she kind of has this ability to just float along and cover it up by teasing, poking and prodding those around her.”

Ellen who is actually 20 years old liked the idea that Juno is not your typical teenager.

“I think it’s an extremely well written teenage girl which is not the easiest thing to find who is honest and original and completely devoid of stereotype which is fantastic. And yes, just this hilarious wonderful quirky fantastic story.”

That unique and colorful voice is Diablo Cody, a former Internet blogger who wrote Juno as a sample screenplay after penning Candy Girl: A Year in The Life Of An Unlikely Stripper detailing her adventures as a stripper to support her writing. Juno, directed by Jason Reitman opens Wednesday, December 5th in theaters.
