JAM MASTER JAY TRIBUTE ALMOST TURNS UGLY
Jam Master Jay tribute almost turns ugly as family members want answers!!! |
Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J, EMPD, Prodigy, Raekwon, M.O.P., Dead Prez, Papoose, Everlast, De La Soul, Jim Jones and Juelz Santana all performed at the J.A.M. Awards on Thursday night, November 29th, at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan. The event was co-hosted by Jam Master Jay’s widow, Terri Corley-Mizell, and Run-DMC’s Darryl McDaniels. The Awards honored Chuck D, graffiti icon Lee Quinones and Wyclef Jean for their contributions in the fields of justice, arts and music (J.A.M.). |
Chuck D was unable to attend the event but in the past he shared his thoughts on the changing impact of music. He said, |
“Once upon a time when things were just records and audio, they took on greater significance but today you have many weapons of mass destruction. So you video games, we have videos, you have 500 channels. Music may not have the same impact to make a whole mass of people move in the same direction but it has a possibility of raising thought and galvanizing all those other areas.” |
In related news, the tribute almost took a turn for the worse when Randy Allen, Jam Master Jay’s former business partner, who was one of the last people to see the hip hop legend alive, ran into Jam Master Jay’s brother, Marvin Thompson. The two were cordial but Thompson told Allen that the two need talk as many believe Allen ha sbeen forthcoming with authorities. |
Allen was asked to leave the event by the promoter just as a large group of men began searching the crowd for him. |
