KORN VOCALIST HOPES TO CREATE BOY BAND
Korn vocalist Jonathan Davis hopes to start a band with his boys which may include offspring from other members…only if Munky agrees. |
Korn vocalist Jonathan Davis is eager to guide the next boy band. It’s not a boy band in the classic sense, but a real band of boys who are learning to play instruments — his sons Nathan, Pirate and Zeppelin. Davis’s main gig is the vocalist for Korn, but he’s currently going out on tour solo. |
We sat down with Davis recently and asked Davis about the musicality of his sons. |
“I’m not pushing ’em though. I don’t want him to be a rock star. I don’t want him to do it unless he really wants to do it and take it up as his career. I want it to be part of his life. I want him to at least know how to play an instrument and just to have that satisfaction. Nathan was just with me, but he had to leave because he had to go to school today. He lives in Massachusetts now. He’s really involved in music. He’s been playing bass a lot. He’s figuring out what he wants to play. Pirate’s two-and-a-half and Zep’s six months. Me and Pirate… Pirate’s my little… He’s going to be a drummer, and he’s going to be playing at three like I did, because he’s constantly, ‘Wake up, wake up! Daddy play drums. Let’s go baby,’ because I had him out in the studio. So I’d throw on songs I’d been working on and he plays drums to them. He’s actually hitting some of the hits, and I’m like, ‘whoa!'” |
We asked him if like several known musicians (notably Van Halen) if he’d ever do musical projects with his kids. |
“F–k, yes! I’ve got three boys I’m hoping for a f–kin’ three piece and I’ll produce the s–t. I’ll be papa getting them going. Yeah, it should be great. Fieldy just had a little boy, Israel, and so it could be we have a four piece and then we need another baby boy from Munky because he said he won’t let his baby girl in our band. ‘Hell, no,’ I’m like, ‘OK. I understand. I understand bro.'” |
Jonathan Davis got to fly home for Thanksgiving with the family before jetting out again for a solo show Friday night (November 23) in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He has dates scheduled through December 11 in Las Vegas. |
