Paramore, who have enjoyed tremendous success on the heels of their sophomore album ‘Riot,’ have been nominated for a 2008 Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Paramore, who will be going up against Feist, Ledisi, Taylor Swift and Amy Winehouse, have had quite a quick rise to success after their first single off of ‘Riot,’ ‘Misery Business,’ started to receive major radio airplay. With the help of being named ‘One to Watch’ by Rolling Stone Magazine and being an ‘MTV Artist of the Week’ the band saw the album reach #15 on the Billboard Rock Chart. |
We caught up with Paramore to get their thoughts on being nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist and how the bands quick success has been a lot to take in. |
“Four years ago we were in Jeremy’s living room practicing songs and writing songs really with no vision at all. We were just a bunch of kids really. It has come really fast and we’re really thankful. It’s a lot to take in.” |
The 2008 Grammy Awards will take place Feb 10th, 2008 at The Staples Center in Los Angeles, Ca. The Grammy nomination isn’t the only recognition the band has recieved recently as Kerrang Magazine named lead vocalist Hayley Williams the 2nd most sexiest vocalist in Rock, just behind Amy Lee of Evanesence. Look for Paramore, who will ring in 2008 with a live performance on MTV’s annualrnNew Year’s Eve extravaganza. The band will then be touring Europe with New Found Glory with dates beginning Jan 29th in The U.K. and extending until Feb 28th in Stockholm Sweden. |
