THE HUSH SOUND CAUSED BY PANIC AND PETE WENTZ
The Hush Sound is set to release Goodbye Blues, and they talk about their discovery at the hands of Pete Wentz and Panic At The Disco. |
Fans of Fall Out Boy, Panic At The Disco, and the rest of the Fueled By Ramen roster are eagerly awaiting the new album from The Hush Sound. Goodbye Blues is their third record, and the band will be on the Honda Civic Tour with Panic this spring. The first two were on Decaydence/Fueled By Ramen, but with the growing alliance between that label and industry stalwarts Atlantic, it’s being touted as a big label release. |
The Hush Sound is comprised of vocalist/pianist Greta Salpeter and vocalist/guitarist Bob Morris, bassist Chris Faller, and drummer Darren Wilson, and they talk about being discovered by the Panic At The Disco and Fall Out boy crew. |
[Greta] “(Panic At The Disco guitarist) Ryan Ross saw us on the internet when we were premiering with record that we recorded ourselves, So Sudden, and…” [Darren] “…I mean when we were talking with him he didn’t even remember where he found it. He found us on Pure Volume, and I think he was into it and he forwarded the information to Pete from Fall Out Boy who ended up getting his hands on it.” [Greta] “He said something like, ‘There’s a good band in Chicago that I haven’t heard about?! That’s not possible.’ Something like that. Then he sent us an email from his sidekick, just like, ‘I am in band Fall Out Boy. I am interested in band of yours,’ quickly done on the road, and I’m like, ‘Wow. Who’s this guy?'” |
The band’s album Goodbye Blues comes out March 18, and fans that have pre-ordered Panic At The Disco’s new album, Pretty. Odd., which comes out March 25, will get two dollars off The Hush Sound’s release. They talk about the tight community that makes up Fueled By Ramen. |
[Darren] “It’s really incredible being a part of Fueled By Ramen. Especially when we started off it was like we were the younger brother or younger sister of a lot of bands like Fall Out Boy and Panic At The Disco. It really helped get our foot in the door as far as touring. We like to help our fellow Fueled By Ramen bands out as well, like, we took This Providence out, and in the future I’m sure we’ll take other bands out. It’s an amazing community to be a part of. It’s a family vibe at the entire label. It’s really cool.” [Bob] “Another thing that’s nice about Fueled By Ramen is that they really allow you to grow and to develop your sound. It’s more of a family, and they know what they’re getting when they sign you. They’re not afraid to need something be exactly what they want it to be. They let you be what you are and support you in that.” |
The Honda Civic Tour kicks off April 10 in San Francisco, and it also features Motion City Soundtrack and Phantom Planet. The first single from Goodbye Blues is “Honey.” rn |
