POD BACK TO WHAT IT WAS WITH THE RETURN OF MARCOS
P.O.D. are set to release their latest album and the band talks about their excitement in having guitarist Marcos return to the mix. |
P.O.D. are set to release their latest album titled When Angels & Serpents Dance and the album marks the return of original guitarist Marcos Curiel. Curiel, who took a few years off from the rigors of touring, was replaced by guitarist Jason Truby on the band’s 2006 album Testify. With Marcos back in the fold, the band returns to their roots with the original four piece lineup that spawned the hits “Alive” and “Youth of the Nation.” |
We caught up with Marcos and bassist Traa Daniels of P.O.D. to get their thoughts on having Marcos back in the fold for the recording of Angels & Serpents and have him back as the touring guitarist once again. |
“(Marcos) Being back is a great feeling. It’s a great vibe. It’s definitely…it’s like it was, you know. We’ve grown as men and we started this band back as kids in the garage. So, everything that we’ve been through we’ve learned from and it’s really exciting you know to see what happens. It’s really exciting to see what happens!” (Traa) “Yeah, I just like to tell people it’s like having an old shoe. He was like lost in a closet and we kind of found him and stuck him back on and it feels nice and comfy.” |
We also talked with P.O.D. about the song writing on When Angels & Serpents Dance and how it not only showcases a broad spectrum of musical colors but it also completes the next chapter of P.O.D. |
“(Traa) I think man, you know every album should be a chapter in a band’s life and every band goes through different chapters and different phases of their career. This album is different than any album we’ve ever done, and I think that’s the uniqueness of it and the thing that’s really unique about it is Testify was not the original four. This album is the original four. So, it’s exciting. It’s hard, it’s rock, it’s heavy, it’s beauty, it’s melodic. It’s soft and it takes you to different places. A lot of shades and colors on this record.” |
When Angels & Serpents Dance is set to hit the street on April 8th, 2008. The first single is “Addicted,” and it’s already making an impact on mainstream radio. The album also features guest appearances from Helmet’s Page Hamilton, Suicidal Tendencies’ Mike Muir and the Marley Sisters. P.O.D. are currently touring on their Hard Rock tour with proceeds benefiting Musicians on Call. The tour winds down on April 7th at The Hard Rock in San Diego, California. Check the band’s website for future tour dates as they will undoubtedly be booking a more extensive set of tour dates. |
