MOTLEY CRUE ANNOUNCES CRUEFEST, ALBUM, DESPITE GLITCHES
Motley Crue announced their CrueFest April 15th in Los Angeles, and Papa Roach, Sixx A.M., and Buckcherry are acts signed up to perform. |
Motley Crue, comprised of drummer Tommy Lee, vocalist Vince Neil, guitarist Mick Mars and bassist Nikki Sixx have just announced CrueFest 2008. Bands on the bill besides the Crue include Papa Roach, Buckcherry, Sixx a.m., and Trapt. At the announcement, which was open to fans, they also performed their new song “Saints Of Los Angeles,” which is earmarked for the Rock Band video game as well as “Kickstart My Heart.” |
Motley Crue talked about CrueFest. |
[Sixx] “Well, we were looking for bands that first of all had hit songs. That’s important to us. That the bands aren’t just run-of-the-mill bands but they have amazing songs. We’re also looking for bands that live the rock and roll lifestyle because that’s what we’re taking around the country is rock and roll and the lifestyle, and these bands all stand for that. They all look and smell and I’m sure some of you will find out, taste like rock stars.” |
Drummer Tommy Lee said he hopes it can be on par with OzzFest someday. |
“This is going to be so much fun. This is something that we’ve been looking forward to for a long time, talked about for a long time, and hopefully this transpires into somewhat of an OzzFest and carries on for years, and years, and years. That would badass, right?! I can tell you one thing, we’re going to have more fun that humans are allowed to f**kin’ have, that’s for sure.” |
The dates kick off July 1 in West Palm Beach, Florida and the tour is currently booked through August 31, wrapping up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Check MotleyCrue.com for all the details. Fans who wanted to see the webcast online were more than a bit annoyed and some were downright angry. Three sites claimed to have the conference live, two didn’t work, including Yahoo’s webcast, which never materialized. Rockvine, the sponsor and ticket agent for the tour, was able to correct its technical problems halfway through the conference, but in online chatrooms and blogs all outlets have been heavily criticized for the glitches. |
