BLUE OCTOBER BABY TO HELP STUDIO CONSTIPATION?
Blue October frontman Justin Furstenfeld is enjoying fatherhood, and he discussed how it will affect the constipational record writing process. |
Blue October recently released Foiled For The Last Time, and it’s an appropriate title because this could be the end of some of the most depressing works by the band. The reason? Justin Furstenfeld is currently enjoying being a new father. While he’s taking the responsibility seriously, his daughter has brought much joy into his life. |
We asked Justin how his life has changed. |
“Um, it’s great. It’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. It’s awesome. It makes me positive more. No more drama in my life. Everything that is dramatic, I kind of look at and I look at the baby and go, ‘Yeah, whatever.’ I have a life to take care of now, so whatever. So it’s actually been the best thing for me. And I’m really happy to be back out on the road just knowing that we’re finishing it off really good finishing it off really good, this campaign with Foiled really good, so we can get into the studio and make another album and then when the baby’s a little bit older bring her on the road with me. She’s a little too young right now.” |
We also asked him how new, happy life will factor into the songwriting for the next album. |
“I don’t know and I don’t know. I don’t know yet. I won’t know until it happens. I can’t sit down and write a song. It just has to be like, ‘Come on, someone give me a pen. It’s coming out.’ It’s kind of like taking a s–t, but it’s weird. Like I said before having a child now makes me look at things in a more positive, funny, jokingly kind of way now. Sometimes it’s hard to take myself seriously when I’m singing sad songs all the time, but it definitely hasn’t changed me. It’s changed me in a better way. I’m gonna laugh a lot more now so I can be more of a positive figure to her. Actually hanging out with these guys, especially these two, make me laugh quite a bit.” |
Blue October is currently out on tour to support Foiled For The Last Time, a 2 disc set that contains live performance tracks, some rarities, and a new version of their classic single “Calling You.” |
