PRIMUS MASTERMIND CLAYPOOL ELECTRIC APRICOT MOVIE ON DVD
Primus mastermind Les Claypool’s new movie Electric Apricot Search For Festeroo has been released on DVD. |
Primus star Les Claypool’s movie Electric Apricot: The Search For Festeroo, hit DVD earlier this month on May 13. The movie saw a very limited release on the silver screen, and Claypool stars in the film as well as directs it. Cameos in the film include the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir, Phish’s Mike Gordon as well as Warren Haynes and Matt Abts from Gov’t Mule. |
The movie wasn’t very easy for Claypool to complete and he talks about some of the obstacles he was up against. |
“Hit and runs, crew people threatening to check themselves into the mental institution while they hold all our footage and threatening to throw that same footage into a fireplace and then disappearing for two days. That was a fun one, dealing with various people that all of the sudden control a piece of your product. There’s all kinds of interesting things that come with it. Would I do it again? Sure, in a heartbeat. We’re planning on doing it again. We’re already in the works on other things. Maybe it says something about me? Maybe I have this masochistic tendency and that I actually enjoy getting kicked in the testicles.” |
The DVD features hours of never before seen footage, and Claypool admitted there is plenty of that. |
“Well the film is close to an hour-and-a-half long, but the original edit was four-and-a-half hours long, so that just let you know how scattered the cutting room… See we don’t have cutting room floors anymore, we have harddrives. So, there are some hard-drives that are chock full of things that may be interesting to some, but probably not. But we have a lot of material to draw from for the DVD for bonus material and whatnot for sure.” |
According to its promo material, Electric Apricot: The Search For Festeroo also features actor and director commentaries, deleted scenes and bloopers, cast interviews, theatrical trailer, Easter eggs and more! |
