CHEAP TRICK TO HONOR THE BEATLES SGT PEPPERS ALBUM AGAIN

Cheap Trick’s Robin Zander talks about The Beatles influence as the band is set to honor the classic album ‘Sgt Peppers’ at The Hollywood Bowl again

Cheap Trick will once again honor The Beatles classic album ‘Sgt Peppers’ with another performance at The Hollywood Bowl in California on June 28th and the band will once again be bringing a star studded list of friends and musicians who will help out throughout the evening’s performance. Cheap Trick, who will also have a very busy summer touring with Heart and Journey, were asked to do the Sgt Peppers show in 2008 after the band sold out multiple nights in 2007 and enjoyed overwhelming success.

We caught up with Robin Zander to get his thoughts on the busy summer.

“We’re busier now than when we started out. We started out, let’s see we’ve got a Hollywood Bowl date coming up that we did last year that was paying tribute to the ‘Sgt Peppers’ album. It went so well that they asked us to do it again. So we’re gathering up some more of our friends to do it again and we’re also doing a big tour with Journey and Heart that starts July 4th and goes through October 1st here in the States and then we’re off to Europe and places beyond.”

Although Cheap Trick perform The Beatles ‘Sgt Peppers’ album in its entirety, the band also covers many other Beatles hit songs throughout the magical night at The Hollywood Bowl, one of the premiere outdoor venues in Los Angeles. We also talked with Robin about The Beatles influence on not only Cheap Trick, but on his life as well.

“Oh let’s see actually it’s not my favorite Beatles record I have to admit. I’m probably the biggest Beatles fan on the planet but I guess if I had to pick one influences out of all the influences outside of my father and radio. It would be The Beatles.”

One of the many guests slated to perform along with Cheap Trick during the performance of ‘Sgt Peppers’ will be Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins. Cheap Trick will also be joined by The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Cheap Trick’s tour with Heart and Journey will extend until Oct 4th in New Mexico.
