SMASHING PUMPKINS SET TO RERELEASE ORIGINAL DEMOS BEFORE END

Already with a busy year on the bands plate with an upcoming DVD Documentary about to be released as well as a string of 20 year anniversary reunions shows on the horizon, The Smashing Pumpkins will next look to dip back into their earlier catalog with the rerelease of the bands original demos. The band, who formed in Chicago in 1988 played a major role in 90’s Alternative Music with a lineup that featured vocalist/guitarist and songwriter Billy Corgan along with James Iha on guitar, D’arcy Wretzky on bass guitar and vocals, and Jimmy Chamberlin on drums. |
We caught up with the only two original members of The Smashing Pumpkins left touring with the band, Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain, to get their thoughts on the upcoming demo rerelease project, which is basically the demos taken from before they even recorded their breakout debut album, ‘Gish.’ |
“We just transferred some of our first demos and we’re set to get into that really soon. So, hopefully by Christmas we’ll get those out. It’ll sort of be pre first album. It’s about thirty to forty songs. It’s a lot of stuff.” |
You can look for Billy Corgan who will be a special guest performer with Cheap Trick when the band performers The Beatles Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album in it’s entirety at The Hollywood Bowl on June 28th, 2008. The DVD Documentary from The Smashing Pumpkins highly publicized small club reunion tour from 2007 is expected to be released before the end of 2008. |
