KATY PERRY STILL NUMBER ONE, DESPITE DOUBTERS BACK HOME

Katy Perry’s single “I Kissed A Girl” is the Number One song in the land, and she can finally prove to her mom and sister’s friends she’s legit.

Katy Perry has proven to her family and family friends that her struggles have paid off. Perry sits atop of Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart with “I Kissed A Girl,” and it’s been a long time coming from the artist who has been dropped and signed numerous times. She’s finally released her album One Of The Boys, which debuted at Number 9 last week.

Perry talked about success and those who never thought she would make it.

“Success is all about not quitting, period. Because there have been so many times where I should have literally jumped off the Hollywood sign. Just like my parents calling me going, ‘What are you doing? Get a job.’ I’m like, ‘You guys have to keep believing and please support.’ My sister has this ongoing joke back home with her friends, or her friends have an ongoing joke with her just about, ‘Hey is Katy ever going to have a record out?’ Sometimes that can be a little disappointing, especially when it takes years to come out, but it’s cool now. It seems gravy. But that’s the biggest thing. You just have to never give up. I don’t care if you go to your grave, just don’t give up.”

Perry is currently getting airplay from Alternative and pop outlets, and she’s sowing her alternative roots on the Warped Tour this summer.
