ALL POINTS WEST KICKS OFF FIRST NYC FEST
This past weekend All Points West gave NYC their own festival featuring Radiohead, Jack Johnson, Duffy, and the New York City skyline. |
The inaugural All Points West music festival took place in New York City this past weekend, August 8, 9, and 10, and it featured sets by Radiohead, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Duffy and quite a few others. The shows, which actually took place at Liberty State Park in New Jersey, were spread across three stages with each one having its own distinctive view of either the downtown New York City skyline, Statue Of Liberty or both. |
While many in attendance spoke about the cumbersome and extremely time-consuming method of getting to the festival via public transportation, the location was ideal and organizers did a good job with the rest of the festival. Duffy, who performed on the first day talked about playing the inaugural All Points West. |
“I thought All Points West was a wonderful experience. To be able to look at the Statue Of Liberty. I feel as though in New York I’ve had some of my favorite shows. You can stand next to anyone, whether it be someone in the fire service in New York to somebody who’s really super-famous in a band. There’s something about festivals that brings out the very sociable and free, yeah, a care free attitude. I love that. That’s what music’s about. It shouldn’t be taken too seriously.” |
Others in attendance included Girl Talk, Underworld, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, The Roots, Kings Of Leon, and Cat Power.rn |
