30 SECONDS TO MARS SUED BY EMI
30 Seconds To Mars has been sued for breach of contract by EMI, but they’re not going quietly. |
30 Seconds To Mars wants to leave their record company, but Virgin/EMI Records has filed a “Breach Of Contract” lawsuit against the band. The label is suing the band for nearly 30 million dollars, and Leto called the suit meritless because 30 Seconds To Mars has brought the label two million in sales with the combined totals of their last two albums. He said that the label should have broken even by now. |
30 Seconds To Mars switched management from The Firm to Irving Azoff’s new company, and a new deal Azoff had been working on has gone south. Between album disputes are nothing new. Linkin Park resolved their differences with Warner Brothers before their latest album, Minutes To Midnight was released. Jared Leto, talked about how hard they worked on their big moneymaking album, A Beautiful Lie. |
“We wanted to do something great and do something that we would always be proud of. That’s not always an easy thing to do. Sometimes it happens like magic, but most of the time it entails a lot of really, really hard work. It took about three years to make this record, and we’re very proud of it.” |
For their break with the label the band cited a California contract law, which states no contract for artists can last more than 7 years, they also felt that all the people who helped in their success at the label are gone, and Leto also said the band has not made one penny from any of their albums due to what the label said was recouped costs.rn |
