BIG HEAD TODD GIVING AWAY ALL THE LOVE YOU NEED FOR FREE
With 8 free concerts around the U.S. the Green Apple Festival held it’s 3rd Annual Festival celebrating ‘Earth Day’ |
Believing that the music industry is changing and trying to stay ahead of the ever changing landscape, Big Head Todd and the Monsters decided the best way to release their latest album “All The Love You Need” was to give it away for free. After mailing out a copy of the new album to the first 25,000 fans who signed up via their website, then sending it out to over a half million people through radio station mailing lists clearly the band is getting their music out. |
We caught up with guitarist Todd Park Mohr, of Big Head Todd to get his thoughts on his philosophy in giving out the album for free. |
“Part of our philosophy behind about giving away the album and the music into as many peoples hands as we possibly could. That’s the rational of it and it’s working out pretty well for us. We’re kind of slated to ship about half a million units so we’re really psyched about that.” |
Fans also have a choice to buy the album as well, which includes all the artwork and a bonus Documentary DVD. We also talked with Todd about what fans can with the bonus DVD. |
“It’s actually pretty special. I’m really pleased with how it came out. It’s basically a documentary about the reheasals and the recording process for the record. We had cameras going almost the whole time when we were recording, so it’s a lot of kind of fly on the wall and really candid footage of me and the band just working out the music.” |
Big Head Todd and the Monsters have a few Summer Tour dates left for 2008, including a stop at the first annual West Beach Music Festival in Santa Barbara, California on September 13th alongside Ziggy Marley, Jason Mraz, George Clinton with Parliament/Funkadelic and Natasha Beningfield. Fans of Big Head Todd and the Monsters can also book a vacation with the band on a Caribbean cruise dubbed ‘Turks and Caicos.’ The Turkoise Resort, located on one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, will host the band and fans exclusively for a week, beginning April 18th, 2009. This will be the fourth BHTM travel experience. Check the bands website for details. |
