THE RACONTEURS TO PUT BAND TO REST FOR AWHILE?
The Raconteurs have exploded on the scene with two hit albums, but is it time to put the band to rest while they explore other projects? |
The Raconteurs, which formed after an inspiring run of song writing between long time friends Jack White and Brendan Benson, exploded onto the musical scene in 2006 with their debut album ‘Broken Boy Soldiers’ and followed that up with their second hit album 2008’s ‘Consolers of the Lonely.’ After touring the world and performing at numerous festivals, it seems the band is ready to finally take a much needed break once The Raconteurs 2008 tour concludes October 1st in Atlanta, Georgia. |
We caught up with guitarist Brendan Benson recently to get his thoughts on The Raconteurs putting the band to rest for awhile while they explore other musical endeavors. |
“Well I’ve got a solo record coming out. In fact, I finished it and Jack’s got stuff going on. We all kind of have stuff going on so I think we’re going to maybe take a little bit of a break and put The Raconteurs to rest for a minute so we can do these other things that we’ve been meaning to do for a long time but The Raconteurs kind of blew up and yeah, kind of snow balled, but we made a decision to stop for awhile do this other stuff.” |
Although Brendan Benson’s solo album is finished, it won’t be released until 2009. Jack White, who often has his hands in multiple projects will possibly look to hit the studio with The White Stripes in 2009 as well, after a much needed break from touring. Bassist Jack Lawrence and drummer Patrick Keeler will look to get back to their original band, The Greenhornes, which they performed in before they both joined The Raconteurs. |
