AL JOURGENSEN OF MINISTRY DOES FILM SCORE FOR WICKED LAKE
Al Jourgensen has scored another film with his latest project for Wicked Lake and he discusses the process. |
Al Jourgensen, having recently put his band Ministry to rest, recently completed his next project, which was scoring the feature film “Wicked Lake.” The soundtrack, which includes one previously unreleased Ministry song written by Jourgensen along with the late Paul Raven, will be released November 24th, 2008 via Al’s own 13th Planet Records. Besides four Ministry songs, the “Wicked Lake” soundtrack also features tracks from Prong, Revolting Cocks, Hemlock, Meshuggah, False Icons, Laika and Ascension of the Watchers and will be available for pre order in the near future via 13th Planet’s website. |
We caught up with Jourgensen recently at his in store appearance and signing in Hollywood, California to get his thoughts on scoring the film “Wicked Lake” which is director Zach Passero’s first feature film. |
“I got to see the movie as it went along and I wrote stuff for each individual scene and put stuff, like this knuckle head’s music for certain scenes.” “Prong that is, yeah.” “We went accordingly, the great thing is I’m really good friends with the director for the movie, Zac. It’s his first feature film and I’ve known the guy for years and I’m really proud of him. He’s a good kid, he’s like 26 and he’s already doing Hollywood movies so I was like ‘Yeah, sure this will be fun.’ We both worked on it. We both decided what music was appropriate for each scene.” |
Jourgensen, who has been involved with music soundtracks for many years, even talked about how he is looking forward to scoring many more feature films in the future. |
“I’ve done some before as well. I did ‘A.I.’ for Steven Speilberg and I did the first ‘Robo Cop.’ Not just stuff like they just pick out bands and put together a soundtrack to make money and all that. I mean I’m talking about actually working on the score and seeing rushes of films and all that. I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again many, many, many more times.” |
Now that Ministry has wrapped up 27 years of touring with their farewell “C U La TouR” he is currently working on a live DVD/CD package of that tour, which will be released in March 2009. The always busy Al Jourgensen is also working on an upcoming Revolting Cocks album, which will be coming out in February. At first, his idea was to just produce the album, but it turned out so well, he’s decided to be more of an involved member, even playing a handful of dates with the band when they tour next year. Jourgensen has also recently finished a documentary on the drug culture in the 90’s titled ‘Fixed’ which will also be released in 2009. |
