SHINEDOWN REINVENTING THEMSELVES WITH THE SOUND OF MADNESS
Shinedown are once again enjoying tremendous mainstream success this time for their latest album “The Sound of Madness.” The album, which debuted at #8 on The Billboard Top 200 albums and #3 on The Rock Chart is Shinedown’s follow up to 2005’s “Us and Them” and features the hit single “Devour” which is the second #1 Single they’ve enjoyed on the active Rock Chart. |
We caught up with lead vocalist Brent Smith to get his thoughts on the band always trying to outdo their past success and why they feel the need to keep reinventing themselves. |
“Every single song that we write is different but we also are always trying to out do what we’ve already done. We don’t really believe in a top or that whole thing of I’ve arrived. I really think that’s pretty weak to be honest with you. I think you just have to constantly keep reinventing yourself, so i mean that goes the same and hopefully holds true with the songwriting as well. You want to write, once you’re done with one you want to be able to go and write a better one and keep writing better ones as you go. Hopefully we have, actually I know in my heart and my soul and in my mind I know we got a really really strong record, so hopefully we’ll have the same, if not more success with this record. All we know what to do is be who we are and just throw down out there.” |
Shinedown are currently touring in support of “The Sound of Madness” along with Avenged Sevenfold and Buckcherry, with dates extending until December 5th in Florida. The band will then head out on a brief headlining tour of The U.S. until December 17th in Chicago. After taking some time to be with their friends and family for the holidays, Shinedown will then head overseas for a headlining tour beginning in London on January 21st and extending until February 10th in Vienna. |
