HOOBASTANK LOOKING TO RELIVE PAST SUCCESS WITH FOR(N)EVER
Hoobastank talk about their upcoming album “For(n)ever” and why they are trying to relive past success. |
With a debut self titled album that went platinum and their sophomore album “The Reason” reaching double platinum status, Hoobastank are looking to relive their past success on their upcoming new album “For(n)ever.” On the album, which hits streets Jan 27th, original band members Doug Robb, Dan Estrin and Chris Hesse went back to old friend and producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance/Daughtry), who had a hand in producing Hoobastank’s most commerically successful albums in the past. |
Artisan News caught up with Hoobastank to get their thoughts on the pressure to live up to their past success. |
“I don’t know if pressure is the right word. I kind of feel like we just want to relive the success that we’ve had in the past. So, I don’t know. We’ve been asked that before you know, even going into other records after coming off a really successful record and I think we always said if there’s any pressure or anything like that it’s usually pressure that we put on ourselves.” |
After 2003’s double platinum album “The Reason,” Hoobastank released “Every Man for Himself” which debuted at #12 on The Billboard Charts, but didn’t share the same success as the bands first two albums. Lead vocalist Doug Robb also talked about the weight of people’s expectations not being as heavy as it was in the past. |
“A few years ago coming off a record that does three million, I think that’s where the word pressure probably applies more because you’re like we have to do that again. And right now because people’s expectations are this and this. I think this time around the approach is different. The goal is the same but I think the weight of has been, I don’t want to say completely lifted but it’s not as heavy as it was.” |
Hoobastank recently released the premiere video for “My Turn” which is their first single off “For(n)ever.” The interactive video, which is meant to be viewed online, allows viewers to control the on screen action and offers fans a new experience with each viewing. Hoobastank will be supporting Staind for a few shows beginning April 25th in Walker, Mn and extending until May 15th in Las Vegas. Look for Hoobastank to announce an extensive run of tour dates as they look to tour in support of “For(n)ever” in 2009. |
