Former Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant and American bluegrass and country icon Alison Krauss formed an unlikely duo with the release of their debut album from 2007 “Raising Sand.” “Raising Sand,” which was produced by T Bone Burnett is Nominated for 5 Grammy Awards at the 2009 Grammy Awards which take place Feb 8th, and both artists forged a solid friendship that is built on a heavy musical connection. |
Artisan News caught up with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss to get their thoughts on what a life changing experience recording “Raising Sand” was for each of them. |
“There was a tribute to Leadbelly and we were invited to play and Alison said she’d come along and we started to rehearse together the day before the gig and we started harmonizing and it sounded possible. Didn’t it? I realized we created something I could never have dreamt of. I was really looking forward to each day to see what was going to happen. It was like brand new territory. It was a real life changing experience.” |
“Raising Sand” will be up for Grammy Awards for Record of the Year “Please Read The Letter,” Album of the Year for “Raising Sand,” Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for “Rich Woman,” Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for “Killing the Blues” and Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album for “Raising Sand.” The 51st Grammys will be aired live on CBS on Feb 8th from The Staples Center in Los Angeles, Ca. |
