ZIGGY MARLEY LEARNED DISCIPLINE AND HARD WORK FROM HIS FATHER BOB
Ziggy Marley is getting ready to release his third solo album titled “Family Tree” and the album is set for release May 5th on Tuff Gong Worldwide. Produced by Don Was, “Family Tree” features Ziggy’s mother Rita Marley, his sister Cedella Marley along with his daughter Judah Marley. With so much of his immediate family making appearances on the album, Ziggy truly is making this a family album which kids can connect to and the whole family can listen to. So what did Ziggy learn most from his father, the legendary Bob Marley? |
Artisan News caught up with Ziggy Marley to get his thoughts on learning discipline and hard work from his father even at an early age. |
“Well the thing I learned from my father was discipline, hard work, rehearsals, rehearsals. Discipline in what we do. Discipline you see, what we’re doing is not a joke. This is not a thing we take lightly. Because there’s a purpose to what we’re doing. You know, we’re not just doing it here to have fun and make money and meet girls or whatever, drink and ya, ya, ya. This is a serious thing we’re doing. So we have to have discipline and focus in what we’re doing. That’s what I learned from my father, discipline and hard work, you know.” |
A few of Ziggy’s close friends also make appearances on the album, most notably Willie Nelson, Paul Simon and Jack Johnson. “Family Tree” also features two children’s stories narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis. Ziggy Marley recently completed a run of tour dates in New Zealand and Australia. As of press time, Ziggy has no tour dates planned although fans can expect him to announce a new run of tour dates after the new album is released. |
