Red Hot Chili Peppers vocalist Anthony Kiedis is currently working on a HBO series based around his childhood growing up with his father in Hollywood in the 1970’s. The series, which will be written by John Sayles, is loosely based on “Scar Tissue” which was Kiedis’ 2004 autobiography which peaked at #1 on The New York Times Bestsellers list. |
Artisan News caught up with Anthony Kiedis to get his thoughts on the HBO series and how great it has been to reconnect with his father and relive his childhood. |
“It’s coming good. We got a great writer, John Sayles. Very experienced, talented, artistic writer and he wrote a good script. It’s kind of a cool thing reliving the childhood in a way with my father. Fingers crossed that we make a good show and make people happy.” |
The HBO series will be set in 1970s West Hollywood and Los Angeles and will touch on the many interesting stories Kiedis experienced growing up with his father, who was a drug dealer for many famous people and bands including The Who and Led Zeppelin, among many others. |
