Punk legend Iggy Pop is ready to release his latest album. It’s a Jazz inspired collection titled “Preliminaires”, which is slated for release on May 25th. The album is inspired by a novel by french author Michel Houellebecq, and it will also be released as a deluxe box set. The deluxe version will contain the “Preliminaires” album, a collector “Les Feuilles Mortes” and “King Of The Dogs” 7 inch. The cover features an Iggy portrait and a 38 page drawings booklet by Marjane Satrapi. |
Artisan News caught up with Iggy Pop on the Red Carpet for the MusiCares MAP benefit to get his thoughts on the new album whispering in your ear, rather than beating you over the head, which the majority of Iggy’s music certainly did in the past. |
“I’ve got a quiet little album and it doesn’t demand a lot and it whispers in your ear instead of beats you on the head. It’s called “Prelininaires” and it’s got some clarinets and trombones and some strings and a couple of Jazz numbers and some mood music.” |
Iggy Pop will perform live at radio station France Inter in studio 105 on May 28th at 9pm, and fans not lucky enough to catch the show in France can log online at www.franceinter.com to hear him perform selections from “Preliminaires.” |
