THE CRYSTAL METHOD, OAKENFOLD, THIEVERY CORPORATION, DJ AM ALL HIT ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL
Electric Daisy Carnival held it’s two day event at The Los Angeles Coliseum and they brought together some of the worlds great electronic acts. |
The Electric Daisy Carnival brought together a heavy weight lineup of today’s hottest electronic acts and DJ’s to the legendary Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and fan attendance topped 135,000 for June 26th and 27th, 2009. With performances from The Crystal Method, Paul Oakenfold, Thievery Corporation, ATB, Paul Van Dyke, STS9, Infected Mushroom and DJ AM, it’s clear Electric Daisy Carnival keeps building on the success of years past as it has grown into one of the premiere Electronic Festivals in the U.S. With 5 stages and music until 4am, fans were given the opportunity to catch some of the electronic genre’s biggest acts. |
Artisan News caught up with Scott Kirkland and Ken Jordan of The Crystal Method to get their thoughts on how blown away they are with how far The Electric Daisy Carnival has grown since it’s early days in Riverside, Ca. |
“Yeah you know Scott went to the Coliseum two years ago and I went last year and we were just really blown away by how far E.D.C. had come. We’ve been to the older ones way out in Riverside but the Coliseum ones are just a whole different level. There’s upwards of 75,000 people last year and they are expecting more this year. It’s just an incredible event.” |
The Crystal Method, who have played numerous festivals around the globe also talked about experiencing magical moments out of the chaos of a big festival with so many bands and so many die hard music fans. |
“It’s a lot more chaotic but when things come together obviously the crowd that you’re potentially getting to play to is so large that if everything comes together on stage then it can be a real magical moment. There have been many of those in the past and we’ve played big festivals and more times than not they’ve come together.” |
The Crystal Method are currently in the midst of their biggest headlining tour since 2004’s Legion of Boom Tour as they continue to trek around the world in support of their latest album “Divided by Night.” Just a few of the other acts who performed at Electric Daisy in 2009 included Mark Farina, David Guetta, Benny Benassi, Sander Van Doorn, Yoji and Tortured Soul. After putting on The Carnival in Colorado on June 13th and in Los Angeles June 26th and 27th, Electric Daisy Carnival will next be setting up shop in Puerto Rico on August 14th. |
