GREY BRITAIN DEBUTS AT #20 ON U.K. CHART AS GALLOWS LOOK FOR U.S. SUCCESS
After releasing their latest album “Grey Britain” to incredibly success in the U.K., Punk rockers Gallows are looking to build on their past success as they try to build a fan base in America. With a debut on the U.K. Charts at #20, it’s quite clear Gallows are well on their way in their hometown, but can the band duplicate that success in The States? What better way could their be than to tour on the Vans Warped Tour in 2009 just after the release of the album in America? |
Artisan News caught up with Gallows to get their thoughts on why it was such a difficult album to make and why touring on The Warped Tour will help them find out what their future in America holds. |
“We just released our new album “Grey Britain.” It was difficult to make in the studio. We spent a few months writing it then we went into the studio to start recording it. Got in and spent seven weeks doing it, then our vocalist lost his voice. We had to take a month out and then we ended up finishing the vocals at home in my house. Keeping it D.Y.I. Trying anyway. But we got it done with the help of Garth Richardson producing it. Mr. Rage Against the Machine himself and it sounds amazing. Yeah we’re really happy with the album. Everyone keeps coming up to us and saying “How is it doing in The States?” But we don’t know, we’ve only been here for a few days. But this is a good way of finding out.” |
Gallows set out to make “Grey Britain” their heaviest album they’ve made and the album touches on the social, political and economical climate in the U.K. The first single from “Grey Britain” is”The Vulture (Acts I & II)” and the album also featres a guest appearances by Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil on the track “Graves.” Gallows are currently touring on The Warped Tour with dates in North America extending until August 23rd in Carson, Ca. After performances at the Leeds and Reading Festivals at the end of August, Gallows will tour Japan, Australia and New Zealand before closing 2009 down with dates in the U.K. |
