CAGE THE ELEPHANT SHARING SUCCESS AS BROTHERS
It’s well publicized that brothers that tour together sometimes are often at each other’s throats. The Black Crowes and Oasis both immediately come to mind, but that necessarily isn’t always the rule. Kentucky’s own Cage the Elephant, which consists of brothers Matt and Brad Shultz are enjoying tremendous worldwide success after the release of their self titled debut album which debuted on the UK Albums Chart at #38 rose to #67 on the Billboard 200 chart. Fronted by energetic lead vocalist Matt Shultz and guitarist Brad Shultz, Cage the Elephant will look to build on their success of their debut album as they head back into the studio soon to record their highly anticipated sophomore album. |
Artisan News caught up with Matt and Brad of Cage the Elephant to get their thoughts on enjoying all the success together and when they initially became interested in forming a band together. |
“It’s good. Yeah, it’s good. I mean we’ve always been pretty close so why would I want to share it with anyone else. My dad’s a musician. He’s basically where we started kind of wanting to play music. When our parents got divorced me and Brad used to sit back in a little room in our grandparents house and just jam and write songs. That’s kind of how it started.” |
Cage the Elephant will start another round of touring in support of their debut album with dates kicking off September 12th in Indianapolis, In and extending until September 30th in Knoxville, Tn. Cage the Elephant are already writing new material for their next album and the band will look to get in the studio by the end of the year and hopefully have a new album in 2010. |
