GRACE POTTER TRUSTING HER INSTINCTS ON MEDICINE
Grace Potter and The Nocturnals are currently recording new material for their highly anticipated upcoming album titled “Medicine” which the band plans to release in the fall of 2009. “Medicine” is being produced by producer extraordinaire T Bone Burnett who most recently worked with Allison Krauss and Robert Plant on their Grammy Award winning album. Grace Potter, who commands the stage with her incredible vocal range and stage presence, is also becoming more comfortable in the studio with each passing album. |
Artisan News caught up with Grace Potter to get her thoughts on getting more comfortable in the studio and why her initial instinct is usually the right one. |
Grace Potter was featured in the “Woodstock: Now & Then” documentary which aired in August on VH1 and featured performances and interviews with members of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, as well as notable people involved with the historic festival. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are excited to announce their concert at the Burlington International Waterfront Festival was also taped as a high-definition concert film for possible TV and DVD later this year. |
“But it was weird because I thought I was really uncomfortable in the studio and I got in the studio this time and it fell out of me man. Everything that happened on this record was so genuine and so not forced. In fact, I was surprised we kept some of the takes that we kept. It was like, three takes, ‘We got it!’ Two takes, ‘We Got it!’ I mean there was none of that kind of nit picking through forty five takes. Really what T Bone goes for is an initial instinct is often a right one. So that’s what we focus on.” |
