REVOLVER MAGAZINE HONORS DIMEBAG DARRELL ON THE 5TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS DEATH
Revolver Magazine has teamed with renowned and award-winning graphic illustrator Tim Bradstreet (The Punisher, Hellblazer) for a “Pantera Vulgar Display Of Power commemorative issue”, celebrating guitarist Dimebag Darrell on the fifth anniversary of his death. The issue, which will be available only on newsstands from December 22 through February 22, 2010, features Bradstreet’s powerful cover illustration of the classic 1992 album cover photo as well as as exclusive interviews with all surviving Pantera band members including his brother Vinnie Paul, Dime’s longtime girlfriend Rita Haney along with musicians Rob Halford, Rob Zombie, Scott Ian and Zakk Wylde. |
Artisan News caught up with guitarist Zakk Wylde to get his thoughts on not only the great guitarist that Dimebag Darrell was but what a great person he was as well. |
The Revolver Vulgar Display Of Power issue also includes additional Pantera illustrations by Bradstreet as well as rare photos throughout Dime’s career. Dime was tragically killed onstage at a Damageplan concert in Columbus, Ohio on December 8th, 2004. His legend continues to live on in the countless musicians that he inspired in his short but storied career. |
“Aside from being one of the greatest guitar players who ever lived, you know with Randi Rhoads and Eddie Van Halen and Jimi Hendrix and all these ground breaking guys. So, aside from that, like I said before, and that’s how great of a guitar player he was and a musician pales in comparison to the human being, to the man, because he just gave. Just like God and Jesus Christ or whoever, ‘I don’t care about me! I’ll let them kill me before they kill you.” You know, that’s how beautiful he was. So, that’s how you can sum him up in one conversation. That’s it. He was that cool.” |
