BONHAM, STEVE JONES, McGRATH, MORRISON RIDE FOR DUCATI ALL-STARS
Rock n Roll royalty take to the streets and hit the stage as the Ducati All Stars in Hollywood, Ca |
Ducati North America and a group of rock royalty known as the Ducati All-Stars kicked off 2010 with a performance at the legendary Roxy Theatre on Saturday, Jan. 2. The inaugural Ducati All Stars concert was packed with motorcycle and music enthusiasts as the group took to the stage with Steve Jones of The Sex Pistols on guitar, Jason Bonham of Led Zeppelin 2008 on drums, Steve Stevens of Billy Idol on guitar, Billy Morrison of Camp Freddy & Circus Diablo on guitar and vocals, Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray on vocals, Chris Wyse of The Cult on bass, Donovan Leitch of Camp Freddy on vocals and Franky Perez of Scars on Broadway on vocals. Before the show at The Roxy, the Ducati All Stars and Ducati North America staffers rode from the Sunset Strip to Highway 1 and then through the scenic Malibu Canyons with Billy Morrison getting the chance to ride Ducati’s flagship, the Desmosedici RR. |
Just before his performance with The Ducati All-Stars Billy Morrisson talked about forming the band and who the first person he wanted to call was. |
“(Morrison) So yes, I actually did have a hand in putting it together and my first phone call was to Mark McGrath right there who said ‘No!’ No he didn’t. That’s incorrect. Mark always jumps at just being a part of what we put together. He’s a team player so I called Mark and basically here’s how it works in Hollywood. Get Mark McGrath on board and everyone else is joining in.” “(McGrath) No one’s believing that at all. I tell you Billy Morrison is instrumental he combines his love for bikes and Rock n Roll and decides ‘How can I put this both onstage?’ So, this is the man about town. He’s the mayor of Hollywood and to get Ozzy Osbourne on stage and to get a Lemmy on stage you have to go through Billy Morrison and I’m honored to be a part of it. I guess residuals come and now I’m doing a Ducati All Star event in Hollywood because of this man.” |
Mark McGrath and Billy Morrison also talked about getting a chance to ride up to their show on Ducati Motorcycles. |
“There was a little rolling in on bikes but it was kind of a good vibe. It was awesome. I got a GT 1000 that I love and it’s the perfect bike for me because I’m learning smoothly and making a transition from a Harley guy to a Ducati. I love the bikes.” |
Sex Pistol Steve Jones also talked about being apart of The Ducati All-Stars and if he thought the band would perform again. |
“Ah well the band, it was guys who ride bikes and we said let’s play some Rock n Roll. It was kind of easy. I have no idea. I think the worlds going to end and I hope I’m on my bike when it happens.” |
Future Ducati All Stars performances are in the works, which may include a west coast tour and potential international expansion. For more information on the Ducati All Stars, please stay tuned to ducatiusa.com. |
