50 Cent’s part in Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ is his first big screen starring role. He plays a character named Marcus, although the story is loosely based on his life. As an actor he’s billed as Marcus ’50 Cent’ Jackson, and it chronicles a man who turns away from dealing drugs and crime to pursue his real passion, Rap music.

Perhaps bolstered by Eminem’s 8 Mile, Paramount teamed with MTV to produce the flick. 50 Cent told us about shooting difficult scenes and gives some insight as to what’s real and what’s fiction.

“It wasn’t… Shooting scenes for me because it actually happened different than what I experienced I was just concentrating on maybe showing showing my physical performance as the shots were going off were accurate. Looking back I think I did a great job. Everyone else, from what I heard from their responses, make me feel that way. The scene with my mother, it actually wasn’t done accurately either but it is loosely based on my life story and it’s about seventy-five percent factual. My mother’s situation someone put something in her drink and then put something in her drink to cut off her oxygen.”

Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, 50 Cent’s debut, hits movie theaters in the U.S. on November 9. International release is set for January, with schedules varying depending on region.
