50 CENT FACING POSSIBLE BAN IN CANADA
50 Cent is facing some oppostion from a Canadian politician who doesn’t think it’s a good idea for the rapper to perform in Canada any time soon. Reuters reports that Junior Foreign Minister Dan McTeague has called the rapper’s past criminal record into question as well as the fact that he allegedly glorifies violence in his music. McTeague is also questioned the timing as Toronto is experiencing a surge in shooting deaths. The foreign minister told CBC television, “I do want the laws of Canada to apply to anybody who is a criminal, an admitted criminal, as Mr Curtis Jackson — known as 50 Cent — is. Under our laws … he would be deemed criminally inadmissible.” |
Since 50 Cent has a criminal record, he needs a special permit from the office of Immigration Minister Joe Volpe to enter the country and McTeague has written to Volpe urging him not to grant the permit. McTeague has not hinted as to what his final decision will be but McTeague also bolstered his argument by pointing to the fact that there was a shooting and one person was killed after 50 Cent performed in Toronto in 2003. |
50 Cent is scheduled to start his Canadian tour on December 3rd. |
