311 ON MASH-UP: WYCLEF ROCKED IT
This weekend was AmsterJam, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snoop Dogg were the main mash-up healdiners at the Randalls Island event in New York City. Other mash-ups included Garbage and Peaches and also included a mash-up between 311 and Wyclef Jean. |
Bassist P-Nut and vocalist Nick Hexum said that the collaboration between them and Wyclef was a natural. |
“That was the thing, I think the hook-up with Wyclef is good because he’s such a professional. We knew that it was going to be, ‘Let’s sit down for ten minutes, or even five minutes, and just go through it and know how good it’s going to be and then we can go on stage with all the confidence in the world like we played it 100 times.'” [Hexum] “Right. You have no idea how it’s going to go and then all of the sudden he just came in and he just rocked it.” [P-Nut] “We’re all laughing and having fun. He’s singing so strong and so pure and having fun with us guys from Nebraska. It’s crazy.” [Hexum] “His freestyling is sick.” [P-Nut] “There’s the mash-up.” |
311 released their new album, “Don’t Tread On Me,” last week, and the title track from the album is currently racing up the AltRock chart. In early results it looks like the album may be the Number One debut this week, although officially the tallying doesn’t stop until late Tuesday night. |
