30 SECONDS TO MARS LETO PORTRAYS JOHN LENNON MURDERER

Jared Leto is ready to hit the silver screen with Chapter 27, in which he stars as the John Lennon’s killer Mark David Chapman.

30 Seconds To Mars will be doing whatever is necessary to support their latest album, A Beautiful Lie, but 2007 will find singer Jared Leto on the silver screen. The makers of the movie titled Chapter 27 are in post-production for the film in which Leto stars opposite Lindsay Lohan as Mark David Chapman, the man who gunned down former Beatles singer/songwriter John Lennon.

Leto filmed the role before starting the album/tour cycle in 2006 for the record, and we asked him if his life in music gave him any insights to the role.

“Well, I don’t know anything directly or consciously. I think that you learn a lot when you have experiences in different areas, whatever it is. If you’re a writer and you go to Africa working on a book, maybe it’ll inspire you — just like it did us when we made our album. You learn a lot from writing songs; things about dynamic, storytelling. Those are important things to apply to filmmaking as well.”

Chapter 27 is tentatively slated for release November 2, 2007, and in the meantime Leto will dedicate all his resources to 30 Seconds To Mars. Leto has worked off almost all of the 67, yes 67 pounds he gained for the role.
