3 DOORS DOWN IN STORES
3 Doors Down is set to release their self-titled album on Tuesday, May 20, and it’s appropriate considering the admission it was very autobiographical. |
3 Doors Down is set to release their self-titled album today, May 20, and it’s their first release since 2005’s Seventeen Days. The album is spurred on by the single “It’s Not My Time,” but personally the band has undergone significant change, which may have helped the band decide this was their eponymous album. |
Brad Arnold talked about the approach to the record. |
“We kind of disconnected ourselves from a lot of things that we had been so connected to in the past on this record. So a lot of the focus of this record is about those changes and really about the brighter side of life in a lot of ways.” |
One of those changes was a divorce, and Arnold talked about the relationship’s demise and hid rebirth which is reflected on the album. |
“Everybody’s been through changes in these last couple of years, but I went through a divorce and have since moved on and found a wonderful girl. And [bassist] Todd [Harrell]’s been through a divorce as well, and everybody’s had things that they’ve dealt with in their lives in the last couple of years that ultimately has led us to a really, really great place. I really think that this band is in a better place, all of our personal lives are definitely in a better place than they’ve been in a long, long time, I believe.” |
3 Doors Down’s vocalist was asked how much being on the road and traveling impacted both marriages. |
“Yeah, you know it’s definitely trying on… I think being on tour and being away from your home, not only is it hard on us, it’s hard on our families as well. I’m sure that had a lot to do with both mine and Todd’s troubles, but ultimately that wasn’t the root of the problem. If there’s love there, there’s love there, and if there’s not, there’s not.” |
3 Doors Down has a few more dates in the U.S. this month before heading overseas to try and win over Europe. Arnold and the boys return to tour stateside in July, and the band will be thorough playing sheds in the U.S. through September. |
