U2 was the most requested live event of 2005 topping the Rolling Stones and second only to the New England Patriots of football, according to Ticketmaster. The nation’s most requested events is based on online page views, information requests, and ticket sales through Ticketmaster sales channels. |
U2 almost cancelled the tour because of family issues surrounding guitarist The Edge, and their U.S. ticket sales were plagued with a ticket snafu for their first tour leg in which the band’s own fan-club members couldn’t get at ticket to one of the shows as is promised wiht membership. U2 later made it up to them guaranteeing tickets for the second leg. Bono said they adimit that sometimes they can’t make it on their own. |
“We’ve let them down here and there. Not a lot. Recently this year we had some difficulties as you know that the tour very nearly didn’t happen. We had some problems and as a result to try to keep the tour together. We may not have looked after our fans getting tickets the way we wanted to. Larry has apologized on behalf of the band. I would like to do it again. And again, just to repeat, we have a great relationship with our audience, and we want to thank them for the great life they have given us.” |
Rounding out the top 5 events after U2, the Patriots, and the Stones were Paul McCartney and Dave Matthews Band. In the concert list rounding out the top five and added to the above performers was Coldplay. |
