2005 YEAR IN REVIEW: FALL OUT BOY IS NEW BAND OF THE YEAR
Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump talks about the cattiness in the new rock scene, and how “This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race” relates. |
Fall Out Boy’s new video for “This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race” takes shots a the current music scene and the propensity for bands to talk trash against other bands. Fall Out Boy’s Peter Wentz, the lyricist in the band, is not inhibited when talking about the current crop of bands taking on the Killers, Avenged Sevenfold, and others. |
One has to look no further than Fall Out Boy’s video clip for ‘…Arms Race’ to see that the band is not afraid to punch and be punched. We asked vocalist Patrick Stump, who only writes the music for the band, about the war of words in the scene. |
“Pete’s the lyricist, and I’m the music guy. I think the lyrics — if I can speak for him a little bit — the lyric is just a general commentary about people worrying too much about what other people think about the things they hold dear to them be it their beliefs, their taste, or their everything, and I think that’s kind of silly. That’s ultimately what the song is about.” |
Fall Out Boy’s new album Infinity On High is entrenched in the Billboard 200 album chart, and the song and video “This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race” is still at Number One on TRL and has recently been remixed by Kanye West.
