SCARS ON BROADWAY ON HIATUS OR BROKEN UP
System Of A Down’s Daron Malakian has two bands, and now both are on hiatus as Frankie Perez says Scars is still a viable entity. |
Scars on Broadway, which is the rock group founded by System of a Down members Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan, had a short life span after the release of their debut self titled album and many fans were left wondering what was next for the band. In fact the future of Scars on Broadway was very much up in the air as Malakian cited his lack of enthusiasm and “his heart not being into touring” as the chief reasons for the bands break up. But was it really a break up after all? After performing on a brief USO Tour of Iraq in 2009 without lead vocalist and principle songwriter Daron Malakian, Scars on Broadway entertained our troops and rekindled notions they might not be done after all. |
Artisan News caught up with guitarist Franky Perez who took over the vocals on the USO Tour for Malakian, to get his thoughts on the future of Scars on Broadway. |
“Those are great guys. Those are great guys and it actually opened a lot of doors for me and through that band I got to meet a lot of these guys and there’s big things coming from Daron. Daron’s a brilliant dude. He’s the closest, probably the truest aritst I’ve ever met or ever had the opportunity to work with. See the thing is, it’s a hiatus. We’ll do some more.” |
As of press time their is no tour dates or plans of getting Scars on Broadway back on the road or in the studio. Although rumors continue to persist that System of a Down will be getting back together, that has yet to be confirmed as well. In the meantime, fans of Daron Malakian continue to wait patiently for new music from the mastermind behind System of a Down and Scars on Broadway. |
